Hornet Airplane for Sale
This airplane was built over two winters hoping to be my answer to getting back up in the air again. I had been a commuter in my own Cessna 172 that was flown for a period of about 5 years until a crash resulted in a total loss.
Unfortunately my enjoyment in working on building this aircraft didn’t continue into the flying experience as I found myself without time to fly it.
The price of the U.S. Light Aircraft, "Hornet" as shown is $18,000, though this is negotiable. This is quite a bit less than total investment, not including the value of many man hours. There are only seven hours on the Hobbs meter of its Hirth 65 HP. Mainly engine break-in time. In addition to the original kit, we have the industry's finest covering, Aero Thane Poly-Fibre. An employee who is a master at urethane paints from his years of painting show automobiles painted the aircraft. The Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner graphics are colored Aero Thane applied onto the base covering. All other graphics were air-brushed.
Additional extras include:
- Intercom helmets
- ELT
- Auxiliary power supply for hand held GPS
- Tail stand
- Portable transceiver which clips to shoulder harness and is wired into the headset
- Sensitive altimeter
- Light kit with wingtip strobe and navigation lights
- Custom instrument panel and control stick knobs of solid burl walnut (not veneer)
These were added to make this a very unique aircraft. (And to blend well with the original intended use of the aircraft).
Since it has not been flown in 8 or more years it does require a bit of clean-up and maintenance, though I am hoping to slowly get that work done. It has been hangared in Southern Utah since it was built and has not been at the mercy of humidity, wind or sun.
Please contact me with any questions or serious offers.
